Eliminate Millie Bobby Brown’s whole arc about uncovering the truth about APEX. I felt that all of it was unnecessary and just a reason to have her and her dad in the movie just to have some cohesion with the previous Godzilla movie.
An easy solution to introducing APEX would have been to have Alexander Skarsgård’s character being shown Mechagodzilla by Demián Bichir character Walter Simmons, CEO of APEX. Walter explains his plan to entering Hollow Earth and the safest way would be to use Mechagodzilla a vehicle to protect them from the effects of the gravity distortion.
This would make Walter Simmons true intention of exploiting Hollow Earth’s energy source more nefarious by hiding his true intentions and the true origin of Mechagodzilla.
Mechagodzilla’s activation in preparation for the excursion is what sets Godzilla on his rampage to destroy Mechagodzilla, however, Godzilla is unable to pinpoint the exact location of Mechagodzilla since the signal is distorted and is being ambigously transmitted all over the planet, which leads to Godzilla to aimlessy attack “random” locations. The “randomness” of Godzilla’s attacks lead the World to believe that Godzilla is attacking humanity when it fact it’s because Godzilla is consfused.
During this time, Kong is becoming even more agitated and is on the brink of escaping Skull Island which is being protected by Monarch. Monarch has observed that Godzilla has been using the tunnels in the Earth to travel to and from Hollow Earth. A couple of those tunnels are very close to SKull Island and on a few occasions, Godzilla has attacked SKull Island but suddenly stopped for reason unknown.
You lose about 30 minutes of movie, tighter plot, plus the thime between fights between Kong and Godzilla is shorter.
