While I haven’t read every story on their list, there are a couple that I have read and completely disagree with their…assessment.
#10 on CBR’s list is “The first issue of Captain America: Steve Rogers by Nick Spencer and Jesus Saiz…“.
I personally liked the twist of this story – Steve or a version of Steve actually being a Hydra agent. Most people lost their minds and didn’t like the twist. I loved it and the story that followed except for how the real Steve was revived.
#9 The Ultimates Represents The Worst Kind Of Patriotism – “There is nothing inherently wrong with having strong feels of patriotism towards the United States, or any country that one hails from. However, in the current state of social injustice commentary flooding the world that’s overly critical of America, The Ultimates series that began in 2002 reads now, at worst, as pro-American while being anti-everyone else.“
CBR, I believe that was kinda the point of the Ultimates – a universe opposite of the Marvel 616 universe.
It’s not surprising that comics from 30+ years ago haven’t all aged well, but there are also more recent comics with themes that have already soured.
