I see social media going hysterical about Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination. Well calm your tits folks! It’s not that serious.

Let’s start with how people are nominated for the Nobel Prize:

“Each year, thousands of members of academies, university professors, scientists, previous Nobel Laureates and members of parliamentary assemblies and others, are asked to submit candidates for the Nobel Prizes for the coming year. These nominators are chosen in such a way that as many countries and universities as possible are represented over time.

After receiving all nominations, the Nobel Committees of the four prize-awarding institutions are responsible for the selection of the candidates.”

So with that being said, any of the qualifying nominators can nominate anyone they feel meets the criteria. Trump has not been nominated by the Nobel Committee, so it’s not even an “official” selection.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee takes the list of nominees and determines who are the best candidates for each category. You can read about the process at nobelprize.org.

Trump’s name was just thrown into the hat by a Far-Right supporter named Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament.

That’s it! Stop getting hyped about a headline and actually read and understand what is happening.

I’m certain Trump is NOT getting a Nobel Peace prize so I’m not even going to trip. I’m just hear to educate yall before this shit gets out of hand.
