‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Review
Is the movie good? YES!
Is it funny? YES! Are there any cameos? PLENTY with a few surprises.
Ryan Reynolds can do no wrong as Deadpool. We all knew he was the perfect person for the role back when Wolverine: Origins was first announced back in 2007. However, that was NOT the Deadpool we asked for back then. Wolverine: Origins is also the worst movie Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was in as well. Since then, Ryan Reynolds has embodied the character, and it would be hard for anyone else to follow in his footsteps. The same goes for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ gives us the best, comic book accurate Wolverine (minus the height) to grace the screen in the past 20 years. He has his super strength, the strongest version of his regeneration, and his feral fighting style. It was so beautiful to witness on screen.
Although the movie doesn’t push the MCU forward, it does an excellent and flawless job of ending the FOX Universe and giving a few characters from those movies redemption. There are a lot of familiar faces from the FOX movies and a couple of pleasant surprises. The movie is much more enjoyable if you’ve seen the FOX Marvel movies, even the bad ones.
Cassandra Nova is an A+ villain. I would love to see more of her. Hopefully, she shows up in future movies.
There’s a lot to unpack in this movie, but I can’t do it without spoiling it.
The first 2/3 of the movie is great. The final 1/3 of the movie brings the overall movie down a couple of notches. With a better third act, this movie could have been a 10/10. However, due to the very underwhelming ending, I can only give the movie a 7/10.
