Thunderbolts* Spoiler Free Review

To save you time: yes, #Thunderbolts is worth seeing. If you want to know why, keep reading.

If this movie is any indication of what’s to come for the MCU, then I’m looking forward to it. This film is solid from beginning to end—even the second end-credit scene (yes, there are two), which is probably the best one they’ve done in quite some time, was incredibly satisfying.

Being an MCU movie, of course there’s a lot of humor. However, it’s humor that fits the moment. It’s not corny like Love and Thunder (I want to love that movie, but I hate it now).

Marvel Studios, up until this point, had delivered so many duds in between great films that a lot of people felt the MCU had lost its mojo. While there were some excellent post-Endgame releases—Shang-Chi, Multiverse of Madness, Wakanda Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Deadpool & Wolverine—there were also some extremely mid-tier entries with only great moments: Far From Home, Eternals (which I love, by the way), Thor: Love and Thunder (the more I watch it, the more I hate it), Quantumania (DAMN YOU, JONATHAN MAJORS!), The Marvels (complete trash), and Captain America: Brave New World.

WE GOT THE REAL SENTRY!!!!

Sentry, a personal favorite of mine, is comic book accurate! I figured they were going to dumb him down, considering how powerful he is. But no—he’s quite frankly the most powerful superpowered individual in the MCU right now. Yes, he would lay Captain Marvel, Thor, and Hulk down without breaking a sweat—go look him up. His full powerset is on display—no punches pulled.

Since I’m a spoiler junkie, I had already read most of the leaks before going in. There weren’t any truly “juicy” spoilers that would ruin the experience for most people. However, the ending of the movie packs a big surprise. It wrapped up how I expected—and then a reveal drops that’s HUGE.

The cast did a phenomenal job. There wasn’t a weak performance. I’d really love to see a sequel to Thunderbolts. Although Yelena (Florence Pugh) was clearly the main lead, everyone else got time to shine. My only nitpick would be the exposition dump we got throughout most of the first act.

Let’s hope Marvel Studios can keep the momentum going with Fantastic Four.

Go see it!
