Transformers: Rise of the Beasts “Review” | Infinite Nites

I’ve been really slacking on writing reviews for my own site. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has really brought me out of that slumber and renewed my love for Trasnformers. The love that Micheal Bay destroyed five times over. Fuck Micheal Bay!

Alright, now that that is out of the way…let’s talk about Rise of the Beasts.

Transformers: Rise of The Beasts is, for now, the second best Transformers movie next to Transformers: The Animated Movie and the best live-action Transformers movie. The movie isn’t perfect by any measure, but at least it’s consistent and enjoyable. Being that it’s set in 1994, it reminded me alot of the movies that came out during that era – just complete fun! When this movie hits streaming, I’ll probably watch it 100 times.

The movie does a great job of combining the plots from the Beast Wars cartoon and Tranformers: The Animated Movie. If you haven’t seen either, then you won’t be totally lost because they explain enough about Unicron and the Maximals. However, if you are familiar with both then you’ll really appreciate how they included them without having to go much into the backstories of the Maximals and Unicron.

So let’s get into what I liked and disliked about this movie:

The Humans Aren’t Annoying

The Micheal Bay movies left a sour taste in my mouth with its focus being mainly on the human characters and not enough focus on the Transformers. I dislike the Bay movies even more since Rise did a great job of limiting the number of human characters. Gone are the days of Shia LeBouf’s annoying ass Sam Witwicky. Fuck he was so annoying! In fact, I can’t think of a single character from the Bay films that I actually liked.

Leave you out of the movies, that what he would do!

Instead, we get two protaginist, Noah and Elena, who are not annoying at all. In fact, they are pretty intelligent characters who I don’t recall making any stupid mistakes throughout the movie. They have their own motivations for why they are doing what they are doing. Noah, wants to protect his family which means he has to help protect the Earth in the process. He goes so far as actually planning to double-cross the Autobots to achieve his goal.

Elena, who works in a museum, is helping the Autobots because she naturally has an affinity for adeventure and gets to leave New York for the first time in her life.

It’s quite refreshing seeing two characters on screen who are both POC, in a science fiction movie who are playing stereotypes.

The Soundtrack is Dope

You can’t go wrong with a movie full of 90’s Hip-Hop and R&B.

The scene with Bumblebee and the intro song he uses got me hype as shit in that theater. I feel this moment was setup just so they could use the song.

The Maximals

All I can say is, job well done! Too bad we may not get them in the next movie. I would love to see more Optimus Primal.

You Could Actually See What Was Going On

One of the biggest differences between this movie and the Bay movies is that in Rise you can actually keep up during the action sequences and SEE what the hell is going on! As loud and kinetic as the previous Transformers movie action sequences were, they still looked a mess. Fuck Micheal Bay!

No Caricatures Here. I loved mirage!

Unlike the Bay films, we didn’t get any borderline racist/stereotype caricature robots in this movie. Remember the twins from Trasnformers 2? Annoying as fuck!

All of the robots had their own personalities. I was a bit worried about Mirage based on what I’d seen in the trailers, but even he was likable. He was attitude was basically your typical young person who grew up in the city and was influenced by Hip-Hop music. If he was human, you’d think he was a perfectly normal person from New York. Did I mention, fuck Michael Bay?

They Gave Us Unicron

Yes, Unicron is in the movie. Ummmm…fuck Micheal Bay!

THEY SAID THE THING…A LOT!

“Until All Are One…and fuck Micheal Bay!”. The line is repaeted several times in the movie. If you are a fan of the 1986 animated movie, you’ve heard the line before.

Prime Almost Died

I clinched my fist everytime Optimus got into a fight! He was so close to dying a couple times. My only complaint is that we still haven’t got a decent Prime fight. What I mean by that is, we haven’t gotten a fight where Prime, alone, just kicks everybody’s ass. You have to keep in mind this version of Prime is still a young leader and hasn’t been leading the autobots that long. He’s still making mistakes and learning how to be a leader. Oh, by the way, fuck Micheal Bay!

Post Credit Scene

HOLY SHIT! I was not expecting that. I’m not going to spoil what happened, but I would love to see them pull it off. All I’m going to say is that another franchise is being “rebooted” and exists in the Trasnformers universe.

Overall, I give Transformers: Rise of the Beasts a 7/10.

FUCK MICHEAL BAY!!!!!!
